Who We Are

Al Hijrah Education Foundation [AHEF] was formed in 2018 to target areas of need in the Muslim communities and the wider community in the UK and around the world. Our vision is to deliver projects that are community-led, inclusive, accessible and practical.

In the UK the Foundation will work with communities with diverse heritage, targeting issues of educational attainment, social fabric, welfare, and social mobility, with a focus on working with youth.

Internationally, recognising the struggles of the Muslim communities in the most deprived areas of the world the Foundation will work with like-minded organisations to support and develop projects that are providing children with a basic education.

We believe that every child should have access to a diverse education, regardless of their gender, race, religion or ability.

Vision and Aims

Our vision is to create a Foundation which facilitates the youth through their journey of education.

We see education in the broadest sense, going beyond certification; we will encourage well-rounded individuals who are equipped with the knowledge, skills, social-conscience and competence to succeed in all aspects of their lives.

Our key focus will be to deliver projects that incorporate the following:

  • Encourage young people to excel academically
  • Enable young people to develop soft skills, such as empathy, resilience, humanity and social-conscience to boost their personal development and equip to contribute to their communities.
  • Work with communities on identified social issues affecting young people, such as adolescence, making the transition to adulthood, social taboos, rites of passage (birth, marriage, death) or challenges with drugs or crime. These issues will be identified by the communities themselves; encouraging ownership and building social capital.

Our Delivery

The Foundation will tailor its activities to meet the diverse needs within communities. Expertise will be drawn from within communities to design, develop and deliver activities based on the community needs.

Phase 1

Community engagement and needs identification

Phase 2

Designing activities in consultation with community members and beneficiaries, whilst considering a range of mediums for delivery. Programmes will draw on theory and practice where relevant.

Phase 3

Delivery of pilot projects - this will begin on a small scale to test and refine activities.

Phase 4

analysis of pilot projects; evaluation of successes, challenges and lessons learnt

Monitoring and Evaluation

The Foundation aims to provide the community with diverse projects that will develop and enhance the skills and experiences of the beneficiaries.

To ensure that the Foundation is continuously progressing and achieving, it will incorporate procedures that will monitor and assess its activities. This will allow the Foundation to identify its strengths and weaknesses.

The Foundation intends to use the above information to improve the delivery of its projects. The Foundation’s ultimate goals are to present projects that are contemporary, practical and effective.

Working Internationally Through Strategic Alliances

The Foundation intends to establish international strategic alliances with like-minded institutions working to deliver basic education and welfare in the deprived areas of the world.

Through the strategic alliances we will collaborate with our partners to design and deliver projects for neglected communities who do not have access to basic education.

Our aim, through the strategic alliances, will be to promote education as a human right which we believe is integral to community development and social reform.
